Short, plain answers to the questions people ask us most. If yours is not here, ask us. The first phone call is free.
We can. AI Smart Tech is based in Melbourne and sets up Home Assistant remotely for homes anywhere in Australia. We have completed a fully remote setup for a home in Perth, including solar, a battery and car charging. Hardware is posted to you and the setup is done over an encrypted private network.
In Melbourne metro, yes. Outside Melbourne we work remotely. If your job needs electrical work, a licensed electrician near you does that part.
Yes, when the devices are already installed or can be plugged in by you. You connect the hub to power and your network, and we do the rest remotely. Handover is a video call.
Our packages are published. HA Boost, for a home that already runs Home Assistant, is typically $500 to $1,500. Smart Home Starter is typically $1,500 to $3,000 and includes a Home Assistant Green hub. Smart Home Pro, for homes with solar, a battery, an electric car or cameras, is typically $2,500 to $5,000 and includes a mini-PC hub. The scope is agreed in writing before we start.
No. Home Assistant has no subscription, and your system keeps working whether or not you pay us anything after setup. Our care plans are optional, from $49 a month, with no lock-in.
A fixed fee report, $500, for a home that is being built. It tells your builder and electrician where to run cabling, network points and power for each device, so the home is ready for automation. It is delivered remotely anywhere in Australia.
Usually not. We start from what you have and connect it. Before we quote we check each device and tell you plainly which ones will work well, which will work with limits, and which will not.
Most of the common ones, yes. We have connected solar and battery systems, EV chargers and electric cars so that a home can see its energy in one place and charge a car from spare solar power. We confirm your exact models before we quote.
Yes, if your charger can be controlled by Home Assistant. It reads the spare solar power and adjusts the charging speed to match, and you can still switch to a manual charge when you need a full battery.
No. Home Assistant runs inside your home, so lights, heating and automations keep working if the internet is down. Devices that only work through their maker's cloud service are the exception, and we tell you which those are.
We reach your system over an encrypted private network that you authorise and can switch off at any time. No ports are opened on your router, so nothing in your home is exposed directly to the internet.
You do. Your Home Assistant, your devices and your data are yours. Everything we set up is documented and handed to you.
We can check and fix your system remotely, either under a care plan or as a one-off job with an estimate first.
Everything we built keeps working exactly as it is, including your dashboard. It simply stops receiving our updates and monthly care. There is no exit fee.
Our own dashboard design for Home Assistant, made to feel like one app for the whole home. Each home gets one version for a wall tablet and one for phones.
Tell us about your home and what you want it to do. We will tell you plainly whether a remote setup suits you. The first phone call is free.
